Jay Hammond has coached Central Catholic since the fall of 2002. During that time the program has grown significantly and established itself as a nationally-recognized crew with significant success at the Head of the Charles, the Midwest Scholastic Rowing Association Championships, the Scholastic Rowing Association of America Championships, and the USRowing Youth National Championships. Prior to joining Central Catholic's coaching staff, Jay coached at Cornell University while earning his JD from the Cornell Law School. Prior to Cornell, Jay coached at Middlesex School in Concord, MA and before that at Shrewsbury School, UK. Jay graduated from and rowed at Phillips Exeter Academy, Harvard and Oxford. When not coaching, Jay practices law at Babst Calland in downtown Pittsburgh. Jay is an honorary member of the Central Catholic class of 2012. Jay is married to Christy Wiegand, a national champion rower at Princeton, and has two children, William and Isla.
